Below highlights a flat of N. jamban 3 weeks
after arrival, potting, and placement within
our controlled highland grow area. Provided
everything goes smoothly with importation,
all the plants look healthy and well hydrated
while in their packaging. Problems with individual
plants are not visible until some time after
arrival. Depending on the plant size and
environmental factors it can take a few hours
to a few days or even a few weeks to show
potential problems with moisture stress or
disease. Large plants typically show problems
with moisture stress quicker than small plants
since they have much larger leaf mass. Lowland
Nepenthes are also more susceptible than
highland as they tend to have thinner wider
leaves and are usually more accustomed to
higher humidity and lower light levels.

From a distance everything looks reasonably
good.

that not all are ready for sale.

The next 3 photos illustrate various levels
of shock and stress from importation.
Photo showing mild stress such as pitcher
lid drooping.

Photo showing medium stress with dried pitchers
and slightly wrinkled leaves

Photo showing severe stress with blackening
young leaf at the growth point, thin wrinkled
leaves with edges curling under.
One method to deal with a moderate to severely
moisture stressed plant: Reduce the leaf
surface area to reduce moisture loss!

Healthy, happy N. jamban ready to ship. Time
in the greenhouse to this point: 7 Months!
